A copy of the original Vatican brief declaring Brother James Miller a Blessed is now available to view digitally. A translation of the brief is also available.
“We have included the Venerable Servant of God Jacobus Alfredus Miller in the catalogue of the Blessed,” the document reads.
“We permit to be a Venerable Servant of God Jacobus Alfredus Miller, professed religious of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, martyr, an excellent educator of young people and evangelical defender of the poor and oppressed, to be called in posterity by the name of Blessed and on the 13th day of February, on which he ascended into heaven may be celebrated each year,” the brief continues.
The document was validated by Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin and by Pope Leo XIV’s seal on June 12, 2025.
