Students from Calvert Hall College High School in Towson, Maryland, participated in an art contest depicting Blessed James Miller, FSC, as part of a celebration honoring Saint John Baptist de La Salle, the founder of the Brothers of the Christian Schools.
The school’s campus minister, Jack McCormick, said the art contest celebrated Lasallian identity and Brother James, “a man who devoted his whole life toward what John Baptist de La Salle was trying to accomplish.”
Brother James is “not talked about enough within the Catholic Church,” McCormick said, adding that he hopes to continue to bring about more awareness of his story and intercession. The artwork was displayed in front of the altar during the school’s May 14 La Salle Day Mass, where celebrant Msgr. Richard Hiltgartner spoke on Brother James’ life of service and example.
