Recognizing saints and the advancement of their causes of canonization is meant to ensure virtue and holiness of those being considered. In the Catholic Church’s process, usually two verified miracles are required. Generally in the case of those who have died as martyrs, only one miracle is required to advance their cause.

Favors and miracles involve unexplainable healings and cures that are attributed to the intercessory prayer and invention of the blessed individual. These favors and healings are thoroughly investigated by medical officials and theologians for validity and to affirm the intercession.

It is a tremendous gift to hear the reports of Blessed James’ intercession and the devotion of the faithful. We hope, in time, a miracle will be attributed to Blessed James.

“Consider, then, that your reward in heaven will be as great as the good that you will achieve in the lives of the children who are entrusted to your care. It is in this spirit that St. Paul told the Corinthians: ‘You will be our glory in the time to come on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
